Ed Courtemanch has worked in the railroad industry since 1965. Following completion of the management training program ofthe Chesapeake and Ohio / Baltimore and Ohio Railroads, he served in various operations and planning positions before joining Amtrak. Ed is currently Senior Principal – Operations / Service Planning for Amtrak and is the longest serving of Amtrak’s 20,000 employees. His current responsibilities include the improvement of Amtrak’s cross border operations to Canada, implementation of passenger rail performance metrics and standards required by Section 207 of the Passenger Rail Investment and Improvement Act (PRIIA), development and implementation of performance improvement plans for long distance trains required by Section 210 of PRIIA, the implementation of electronic ticketing and fare collection in cooperation with Amtrak’s Marketing and Product Development Department, and various other programs to improve the operation of Amtrak train service. Ed also served in the U.S. Army Transportation Corps at Fort Eustis VA and in Vietnam. He was awarded the Bronze Star for his military service.
