In keeping with CILTNAs’ goals of educating its’ members and promoting professionalism in the transportation and logistics fields, the Pacific Chapter is organizing a Winter Luncheon as our next event. It will be held at KPMG, Sea to Sky Rooms, 11th floor, 777 Dunsmuir Street, Vancouver on Thursday, December 6 from 11:30 am‐1:30 pm.

I am delighted to advise that our Guest Speaker will be Mark Collins, President and CEO, BC Ferries. Mark’s theme is “Connecting Communities: Challenges and Strategies at BC Ferries”.

Mark brings 35 years of marine experience to the helm of BC Ferries, having served at sea on oil tankers, bulk carriers and container ships and as President, Rolls Royce Marine in Italy and Brazil. Prior to his appointment as President and CEO, Mark has served, over the course of 11 years, as VP, Engineering and VP Strategic Planning and Community Engagement. A native of Newfoundland, Mark understands the importance of reliable ferry services to people’s lives and the health of coastal communities.

BC Ferries is the fifth largest ferry organization in the world and plays a critical role in the economy of British Columbia. Innovation and service are key watchwords for Mark and his team. He will be giving the audience a bird’s eye view of some of the initiatives and challenges facing the corporation in today’s world. For example, he will talk about fleet planning using non‐traditional fuels, the potential for short sea shipping as a commuter service, and the constant challenge of providing excellent service in the face of high demand.

On behalf of the Pacific Chapter, I invite you to attend our upcoming luncheon. I know you will enjoy hearing from Mark Collins and I can guarantee that you will be impressed with the happenings at BC Ferries!

Luncheon cost is $65 for non‐members, $55 for members and $50 for students. As with previous events, we ask for your generosity in sponsoring students in Transportation/Logistics, International Business/Maritime programs at BCIT, UBC and Capilano University. Students are our leaders of tomorrow and they so appreciate the opportunity you give them to attend Pacific Chapter events.

Registration for you (and a student) is available online below or by cheque made out to CILTNA, Pacific Chapter, with the attached registration form to Marian Robson, 1210 West 8th Ave., Apt.404, Vancouver, BC V6H 3Y9.

We look forward to seeing you on December 6!
