As Canada seeks to diversify and expand its trade in the Indo-Pacific, how can digitalisation facilitate cross-border data exchanges in both the regulatory and commercial realms? Join us for an international Webinar by CILT Singapore and CILTNA Pacific chapters to hear from two leading experts on the latest developments in trade policy reforms and trade technologies emerging in the Indo-Pacific region.
Hugh Stephens, Distinguished Fellow with the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada and Vice Chair, Canadian National Committee on Pacific Economic Cooperation (CANCPEC), will discuss the need for digital trade in Canada and the Indo-Pacific region, and recent joint recommendations from the Canadian and Australian Pacific Economic Cooperation councils for an updated regulatory framework for digital provisions in the Comprehensive and Progressive Trans Pacific Partnership (CPTPP).
The second part of the Webinar will be presented by Mike Yap, Vice President and Head of Group Business Development at Singapore-headquartered CrimsonLogic, a global leader in Trade Single Window developments. Mike has expanded CrimsonLogic’s footprint with more than 20 projects in 10 countries. He will explain the concept of a National Trade Single Window and how it streamlines international paperless trade in regulatory compliance as well as incorporating commercial applications for the benefit of industry in warehousing, logistics, and finance.
The Webinar will be moderated by Eddie Sng, Director, Sanbo Technology, Singapore, which provides supply chain solutions in the field of digitalization, guiding companies through their digital transformation journey.

Eddie Sng, Director and Founder, Sanbo Intelligent Technology (S) Pte Ltd
Eddie Sng is currently the Director of Sanbo Intelligent Technology (S) Pte Ltd. Sanbo provides supply chain solutions in the field of digitization and digitalization, guiding companies through their digital transformation journey.
Prior to that, Eddie was the Managing Director of Agility International Logistics Pte Ltd, Singapore until the acquisition by DSV. Starting as Executive Director in January 2007, his tenure as MD Singapore ended, 31st March 2022. As the Managing Director, Eddie is responsible for the P&L of the Singapore entity covering Air Freight, Ocean Freight, Customer Services, Contract Logistics as well as Fairs & Events. Concurrently, Eddie also oversees the air freight development for South East Asia including Thailand, Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia.
Prior to Agility, Eddie was the Regional Director of Air Freight, Asia Pacific for Eagle Global Logistics (EGL) Asia Pacific, now known as CEVA. As the product leader of the air freight division, Eddie was responsible for the pricing decisions, carrier selection and performance measurement, solutions design and other major initiatives involving the branding, enhancement and deployment of the air freight product. (Dec 2005 to Dec 2006)
Prior to EGL Eddie was the Regional Logistics Manager for Celestica Asia. Celestica is one of the world’s top Electronics Manufacturing Services (EMS) company headquartered in Toronto, Canada.
Eddie oversaw the logistics requirement for Asia, developing and establishing logistics and supply chain programs for internal as well as external customers. (Apr 2003 to Dec 2005)
Eddie also spent considerable time (Aug 1997 to Mar 2002) with BAX Global (now known as DB Schenker) first as the General Manager of Air Freight (Singapore) and then as a principal operational subject matter expert on a transformation project that was based in Richmond, Virginia. He was recalled to Singapore in January 1999 as the Regional General Manager Global Accounts handling Apple Computers.
He was also with KLM Cargo as the Business Development Manager (Aug 1993 to Mar 1997). Whilst at KLM Cargo, Eddie was responsible for cargo development in Singapore as well as working on corporate projects covering worldwide cargo capacity development.
Hugh Stephens, Distinguished Fellow, Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada, Vice Chair, Canadian Committee on Pacific Economic Cooperation (PECC)
Mr. Stephens is currently Vice Chair of the Canadian Committee on Pacific Economic Cooperation (CANCPEC), Distinguished Fellow at the Asia Pacific Foundation of Canada, and Executive Fellow at the School of Public Policy at the University of Calgary.
During his almost 30-year career in the Canadian foreign service, he served at Canadian missions in Beirut, Hong Kong, Beijing, Islamabad, Seoul and Taipei (as Head of Mission), and as Assistant Deputy Minister for Policy and Communications at the Department of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in Ottawa. In 2001 became Senior Vice President (Public Policy) for Asia-Pacific for Time Warner based in Hong Kong. He moved to Victoria, BC in 2010 where he currently resides. He has written extensively on Canada’s engagement with the Asia Pacific region in The Globe and Mail, National Post, Ottawa Citizen, iPolitics, The Diplomat, Open Canada, and others.
He was educated at the University of British Columbia (BA-Hons), Duke University (MA), and the University of Toronto (B.Ed).

Mike Yap, Vice President, Head of Group Business Development, CrimsonLogic Singapore
As Head of Group Business Development, Mike spearheads strategic initiatives to pursue business opportunities. Leveraging his extensive experience in product and sales strategies for both the enterprise and government sectors, he is now responsible for identifying new markets for the Group’s products and cultivating key commercial relationships.
Prior to his current role, Mike was Vice President of Trade Compliance (Business) where he led his team in assisting enterprises to fulfill their trade compliance requirements. Under his leadership, compliance transaction volumes experienced a remarkable 60% growth, and he successfully introduced the US eCommerce Import Program. Simultaneously, Mike implemented a strategic restructuring of the compliance service offerings, placing a strong emphasis on generating innovative value and enhancing the company’s customs nodes connectivity.
Since joining CrimsonLogic in 2006 as Business Development Manager and, later, as Head of Regional Headquarters for Middle East & Africa, Mike has expanded the company’s footprint in the regions by securing more than 20 projects, penetrating 10 new countries and propelling the business with over 20% growth in annual recurring revenue. Prior to CrimsonLogic, he held various portfolios in the tech enterprise sector, ranging from business development to change management.
Mike holds a Bachelor of Arts in Marketing & Media from Murdoch University, Australia.
